My passions for the environment grew significantly when I took the seminar ‘Eco-City Europe’ through Syracuse University in May 2018 after studying in Florence, Italy for the spring semester. I traveled for a month in an environmentally conscious manner with openminded art, architecture, and engineering peers to learn about small and large-scale opportunities to reduce our individual carbon footprints. Our travels took us through Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Germany, visiting cities who are leading the sustainability movement in the form of sustainable construction, community gardens, and more. Kinderabenteuerhof Freiburg e.V. - this is an elementary day school for young children completely outdoors. they let children run around with animals, teach them to build wooden forts, cook their own meals, weld things, & more life skills like these. + it’s a common type of school in Germany... could only dream of this in the US and wish I had a place like this when I was younger
